Makita UC4041A 240V 1800 Watt Electric Chainsaw 40cm Bar

Having researched chainsaws before purchase, I was expecting a very good product. In reality this item exceeds my expectations. The power, noise, balance and ease of use are all extremely impressive.

Makita UC4041A 240V 1800 Watt Electric Chainsaw 40cm Bar

Build quality is Ok ( made in China) normally with the older Makita products the injection molding, sections join perfectly. \nAs Eric Morecambe used to say `you couldn't see the join'.\nOn my example you could most definitely see the join, of the two main` shell's. \nOf course it doesn't affect performance at all, but it gives a slightly, second rate feel to it.\nThe plastic has a hard fragile feel to it, but that's subjective.\n\nIt features tool less chain tightening ( as do most electric chainsaws), and that to is OK, but not fantastic.\nAll the electric chainsaws I have seen seem to have poor tool less tightening, that lacks proper firm adjustment. Its as if all manufacturers, have given the role of design to electrically minded people, with little experience of petrol chainsaws.\n\nWhats poor about it ? well the MAIN PIN adjuster is small, and made of plastic !!\nIts OK at the moment, but I wonder how durable it is.\n\nI have both petrol and electric chainsaws, and previously owned a Bosch AK40, ( electric) the adjuster on that in comparison was very hit and miss. The Bosh system had a rotating knob, and locking centre chain cover , which was very poor and broke often, a replacement on that cost £35, compared to a new chain cover for the Makita which is only £3 !\n\nBoth the Bosch and Makita cut very well indeed.\nThe Makita is slightly more maneuverable, and smaller, but I prefer the wrap around grip of the Bosch.\n\nVery good value for money, you only need to cut two medium sized trees down to recover the cost, and you still have a chainsaw to use again and again.\nRuthlessly bites through wood, with very little kickback, with a smooth clean action, side oil level tank indicator easy to read. It also has an adjustable oil flow pump, which the Bosch didnt have.\n\n\n\n\n \n
